New construction at Kansas and Summit

While driving into town  this evening I came upon the intersection of Kansas and Summit. About four or five blocks to the north of Kansas on Summit, a sign tells you that there are no turns on Kansas. Then at the intersection itself there are signs showing no left or right turns on Kansas. My companion and I had to sit through two sets of lights while several people in cars ahead of us totally ignored the traffic signs and sat backing up traffic while turning left onto Kansas. During the first light we sat though, one of the ACPD officers wittnessed this occurance. He continued east bound on Kansas. When my companion called the PD to let them know that people were not following the constuction signs, the dispatcher called for the unit that had been in that intersection. As we came back through this intersection about 10-15 minutes later, an officer was sitting at the car wash chatting with someone. All the while, a 80's model car with a couple of young men in it sped around us while we were doing the 20 mph speed limit posted, they were weaving in and around traffic.

I read in the paper that this is one of the cities busiest intersections. And we will all have to deal with the inconvienince of the construction, it would be best to avoid the intersection completely but there are businesses in the area that I need to go to. But it would go alot smoother if we would all follow the construction signs. And if ACPD would start ticketing those in violation of these signs. I see that fines are double in constuctions zones so a hefty ticket may help those in violation remember the laws there for the next few weeks.
