Why does this have to be a moderated forum? Do we really need someone to read our post and approve. This seems like a form of censorship and it really slows down good discussions...Any thoughts???????????
I definately agree. The concept of a "Moderated forum" doesn't sound bad -- the reality of a "dictated forum" is worse. I know of at least 2 of my posts that never made it to other readers eyes because of that. It seems like the Traveler's time could be better spent promoting this site and improving it rather than dictating how it works.
I now see a post by MB that is not displayed in another forum....is anybody there???????????
Are we not adults that do not have to be censored.....If a post is deemed to be offensive there should be a way to remove it after it has been posted...this is such a lame discussion board....
I would like to know why it even has a mod to censor what we say.... Why can't you just have a staff member check over the posts a few times a day ( and remove anything that they think is bad- Like cussing ect.) ... If you feel someone has been "bad" then give them a warning and if they do something again then ban them!! It's that simple... We aren't kids.. But it's hard to even have a real discussion when we have to wait 24 hours for our post to even show up... Get with the times!!
Since it began last winter, it seems this forum has proved wildly unpopular. Some categories have had nothing posted in months. I think a major factor in this is having a delay of several hours while a moderator decides whether to allow a posting. What kind of discussion can you have under such circumstances? Compare this to other discussion forums, like the one on allischalmers.com, for example. There your comment appears immediately when you post it. The result is heavy traffic, with dozens of postings and replies every day. Does anything inappropriate ever appear? Sure, and it is usually quickly reported to the site owner and removed. I don't know if ending the preapproval requirement will improve response to the Traveler forum, but keeping it certainly won't.
if you want a example why there should be a moderateder look at the person making up lies about hooters coming to ac. then think to yourself what kind of damage a person could do to someone or a business if anyone could type in whatever they want. they could acuse anyone of anything and cause damage to many innocent people. if that doesnt make you understand how about what if someone made a post, about someone close to you or yourself that was totally untrue and discusting. would you still think its ok to type in whatever you want with no one monitering it.
Oh no! People could post lies on the internet. I think you misunderstand what the people want. They don't want a forum without moderation, they just want post to show up when they're actually posted, not hours/days afterwards. If someone is just making up things or trying to cause a problem, the moderator can still delete their post and ban them.
