RE: Customer Service

Oh I know- It's bad everywhere. It's rare that you get someone to actually help you and do it with a smile. We recently bought a house and we've went in and painted all the rooms, Which mean't going to Walmart and buying paint. You can only imagine how much time I've spent waiting and ringing the bell trying to get someone to assist me. There was times that an employee would see me and turn around OR the see me and walk right on by...

Then there were times I would wait for sooooo long that a family member that was with me would pick up the Walmart phone that's in the paint department and call Walmart customer service and ask that someone would come back and help me.

I've been there with you! Oh and you don't know how many times I've had to wait on this lady that takes payments for the water bill.... She is ALWAYS on the phone and it's not a business call, It's ALWAYS personal! Thank God they have that other lady in there or we would never be able to get the bill taken.

What a decline in customer service in our businesses!  Not only do you go into a store and never be greeted or asked if you need any help, but you can't even go in to renew your newspaper subscription and get decent service.  I went in a few days ago (in the evening) to pay my bill and the little girl behind the counter was too busy talking with a boy to acknowledge I was there.  I waited and waited and waited until finally someone from the back of the newspaper office came up and asked if I needed help.  It seems if teenagers want a job, they need to take the responsibility that goes with it!!

How many places (fast food, clothing, discount stores, etc) do you shop or give your business to where customer service has gone in the hole?  Do you really think people will come back to those businesses to shop again or eat, or whatever the case may be, when receiving such lousy service?  Maybe this should be a topic on the Traveler poll.....

I think most everyone can agree that customer service is really bad in most businesses in ark city.  A few days ago my family and I went to Sirloin Stockade for dinner and the guy in the grill area sat there playing on his cell phone instead of waiting on customers.  We spoke to the manager about the situation but the guy still didn't treat customers right.

Another incident was last September we notified the Ark City Traveler as to it being Childhood Cancer month.  They said they would have someone contact us as to doing a story.  Guess what no one ever returned the call!  So we called them back and all we were told was "um, yeah, well I'll see if I can get something done soon."  Yeah well um they didnt , but a week later there was a huge story on Breast cancer and Arkie the dead squirrl!

That's such bull crap. I can't believe people have let it get that bad.

Come to Sonic. If you're lucky enough to get me, I'll take care of you. =]

But maybe the reason customer service is declining is that people aren't getting paid enough to give a crap... Just saying.

You saying that to someone who makes minimum makes it completely disregarded.

Lets give you no benefits and barely any money and see if your so cheery.

Hey, you are talking to a girl who started at Rubbermaid making $5.50/hr and was happy to have it. I had to work 12 hrs on the weekends and 8 hr nights during the week.

I know it sucks working for so little, but you have to start somewhere. Still, even if you are being paid peanuts, you are not being paid to ignore customers and talk to your current crush on the tellie. Don't you owe your employer a little more than that?

They way I look at it, I'm getting paid to act a certain way and to fulfill certain duties. If I want to feel like I earned that money then I'm going to try my best to do my job in a manner which reflects well upon me and my managment. Really it seems more of a lacking in the self respect department, I don't want other people thinking I am a terrible worker and don't deserve my wages, so I work hard to make sure that doesn't happen.

I know what you all are saying, I work my butt off and do the best I can. Then the lazy jackoffs make more money than me... Oh well, I always do my best there with a smile on my face. Even when I get laughed at D=

Good Customer Service should be a total requirement. And if someones rude or unhelpful to you, contact the management afterwards. If that happens at Sonic, we get our butts kicked.

Well, I cannot say the service is bad in any of the business we use. I do agree Walmart is not as good as the smaller business, they have a lot of space to be working in and don't always see a person .
There was a time   the minute you walked in there was someone asking you if they could help and would almost follow you around, but then as time went on you could walk in and the employee would speak and that was it until you go to pay. People don't have time to wait until the employee has time to help you. I like to get in ,get what I want and get gone. If we feel like the person is talking on a personal call or to a friend,I will politely say "excuse me " and ask what I need.
There is mystery shoppers and they shop and give a report how the business does and that has helped . I know the grocery stores use their reports on how the employees acted.I think an employer needs to teach employees how to greet and take care of customers if they don't. Well, enough on this.sunflowersmile
