prayer

Tamara Niles has suggested getting a prayer policy in place , before someone complains. The City Commissioners better listen. All it would take is one person complaining and then there may be problems they don't need to have. Maybe there has not been anyone complain so far,but it could happen. We have seen it in other towns and states. Just because it has not happened, does not mean it will not. Tamara is trying to prevent problems in the future. Better listen to her. No doubt there may have been some think it just not said anything.

In this county the folks are not so worried about such things. They feel it is a great way to start a meeting. But someone come in from another area and they don't have a understanding about how important that is and think they need to change the world. Personally I like the prayer and pledge. So hope the commissioners listen. That is why they have an Attorney. Sharon Drakesmile

So did the resolution get passed? I think it had to be done from a legal standpoint, but as a Christian I'm not overly pleased with the aspect that disallows making reference to Jesus Christ.

Praying without referencing Jesus is kin to playing baseball without a bat, ball or glove. But this shouldn't boil down to some media arguement, I say let it be, but don't let it stop a praying Christian communitee! This is really about Christians praying for their leaders as we have been instructed to do.

Seriously, aren't those "public prayers" more of a formality rather than a spirit-filled lifting up of a burning need to the Lord in Heaven? No disrespect intended towards Pastor Frye at all....but it ain't the same.

Here is a gameplain that just maybe someone in town could work on...

1. Contact Pastor Fyre and see if he would be willing to be a "point" prayer leader.

2. Invite all local church pastors (that end their Sunday message with, "in Jesus name, Amen.") to meet at a designated church on the night of the City meeting.

3. Attending pastors or church representative would first meet for a time of fellowship and dinner...bring a covered dish and dig in.

4. After a cup of coffee, it's show time...Warriors rolling up their sleeves and hit'in those knees IN JESUS NAME!!!!

5. In faith believe the Lord's blessings will be with the leaders and our city.

6. Be sure to thank Him for what he is doing in and with Ark City.
