We had a great encampment and large attendence of the public. I was one of the folks that put on this event. Grouse creek Muzzleloader Club puts this on every year. The club and the museum work together to bring in folks to demostrate how life before 1860 was lived. Truly and Bob had wonderful trade goods. They provided the public with items like the traders at the yearly rendezvous the mountain men would have had access to. We also had demos at the Wichita Indian Village of clay pots by Heather Ferguson and hide scraping by Jim Erb. Rick Hefley showed cooking and building of the grass hut.
We had looming and blacksmiths, how tipis were put up,gun and war club display.Tomahawk throwing demos. and flint knapping. Sewing procedures and quilt sewing. We had cub boy scouts and girl scouts camp and their leaders. A wonderful group. The new Bill Baird Pioneer Farm was educational with Ehor the donkey , chickens, goats. The weather was great. Windy, but that is Kansas. The museum volunteers were wonderful to do whatever needed. We are ready to do it again next year. sharon drake
