The last time the wife and I went to see a movie @ Cowley Cinema was almost a year ago. We don't plan on going back again. There are two main issues. 1: The sound volume is WAY too loud. Repeated complaints to management gained nothing but excuses. One animated movie we went to had mother's covering their children's ears because it was so loud. 2: Forcing the audience to sit through TV commercials. I put up with commercials on TV because it's FREE. I refuse to PAY to watch commercials. I contacted the corporate office & was told "they all do it". They won't for us any more.
Now we wait for it to hit Blockbuster and watch it on the 57" big screen as many times as we want for a fraction of the price with no commercials, no $5 popcorn and at a volume that doesn't leave our ears ringing.
I would just point out that television isn't free. As for the noise complaint I'm not sure, I've never experienced that. Then again I don't go to the movies very often, since I think spending 8 dollars for one person is a bit ridiculous. Tack on a date, add dinner costs and all of the sudden there is a very expensive evening. I would much rather prefer cheaper alternatives, that don't suck my brain into nothingness.
Same here, never had the volume problem. As for commercials, they're usually like 2-3 mins of actual ads...usually they have other interactive stuff that keeps me semi-entertained while I wait for my movie. Quite honestly I'd prefer an ad to sitting in a movie theater in awkward silence for 10 mins, not like I have anything better planned for that time. Like you said, it's been over a year since you've been there so maybe it's changed. Also wondering what prompted this rant...I mean if it's been a year is it really necessary to come bashing them now..oh well I suppose it's better to get that rage out somewhere haha.

I suppose I assume you meant you watched cable or satellite. However, even over the air there is a start up cost. Plus there is an opportunity cost for everything, since there is no such thing as a free lunch.
Gotta agree with you Longtimer. I had the same experience with the volume and did take issue with an employee, they made not even an apology. My hearing is worth more so I won't be back unless I take a db meter and earplugs to measure the sound level.
