On a trip up the turnpike to Lawrence, KS this weekend I notice that gasoline was cheaper on the turnpike. Unleaded regular was selling for $1.499 in Lawrence (at most stations). I noticed that E85 (ethanol) was selling for $1.399 in Lawrence while our only local provider as a price of $2.179. This price is 63% higher than Lawrence. I'm not certain why our local stations run 15 to 20 cents higher on unleaded than Wichita or Lawrence but I'm reasonably certain that the price of E-85 is way out of line. We are approaching the 500 gallon required purchase of E-85 fuel to gain the Kansas tax credit for 2008 ($750) but will not continue to buy the product until the local station adjusts their price.
