Drinking at games

Minors Consuming Alcohol at Football Games

Arkansas City Police Department Press Release

School Resource Officers, providing security for the Arkansas City High School Football game, found a 17-year-old juvenile female in possession of a Styrofoam cup containing a brown liquid.

The Styrofoam cup, which had an odor of an alcoholic beverage, contained an alcoholic beverage by her own admission, and tested positively for alcohol using a Preliminary Breath Test (PBT). She was taken into custody and later release to her parents.

SROs had been tipped off that students have been bringing alcohol into football games in fast food cups. This was confirmed by the above case. Officers now require fast food cups to be thrown away before entering the game.

They shold have checked some of the adults also.  I know of a couple of parents that do the same thing and have been doing it all year. I have sitten by them before.

We shouldn't be to hard on the kids, there are parents (ADULTS)that do the same thing.  They are only doing what they see their parents and other adults do.

Why is everything blamed on parents?  These are high school kids, they made this decision themselves.  Granted kids do watch their parents and other adults and parents should be help responsible but I can't believe I just read that you said we shouldn't be too hard on the kids!  They are soon to be adults themselves, they need to start learning personal responsibility.

I should also add to my previous post that I agree with Lila that adults should be checked too. They have concession stands, many sporting venues never allow outside beverages.

Being a responsible person and being held accountable for your own actions. What a novel concept, you don't suppose it'll catch on do you?

ksjosh82  I was being sarchastic.  What point I was trying to say and it didn't come across to good was that if the adults/parents are also doing this, they should pay for their wrong doing just like the kids do.  If the kids see that the adults are only made to dispose of their drink, they are thinking they should get the same punishment.  Even though the adult SHOULD be charged with open container.  But then again, it's who you know.......

Sorry I didn't word it better

This upsets you, so you choose to tell the INTERNET?

You should have told people that could do something about it.
