Where are the Bees?

Was grand to see the trees and flowers in bloom but has anyone else noticed the lack of bees?  I haven't seen any in my yard.

I've seen wasps, but no bees! My wisteria is blooming, and it is usually covered with bees of all sorts.

Bees are going through and amazing decrease. Some scientist are saying it is do to cell phones, but that idea has not yet been proven. I find it a little scary that you have noticed. Last year they said there was only half the amount of bees in the world. Without bees there are no flowers or food. Scary thought.

Wow! Can you imagine if that was proven? Can you imagine scientists telling us, "Put down your cell phone or we'll all starve." I do not think people remember how to function without their phones. Ha-ha!

Spoke too soon. The bees have found my flowers. By the way, how far will a bee go to pollinate an apple tree? I have only one in my yard, and this is the first year it has bloomed (for some reason). I'm hoping the bees will help me out and I'll get fruit.

There are several theories as to the lack of bees:  pesticides, cell phones and climate change.
It`s known that pesticides alter an insect`s memory such that it knows not where to go again to feed....hence, they die. Therefore, I don`t use pesticides at all.  It can`t be good for any creature.
As for mobile phones, the theory is they interfere with the bees` navigation systems, preventing them from finding their way back to their hives.....for yheir sake and ours, I hope this is not so....  no bees, no crops. Period.
Bibllical prophecy is the next and probably most likely theory. Revelation 6:6.

BUT I`m glad you have seen bees... I`m waiting. I haven`t seen any in Winfield yet. I pray for a nice swarm of them.biggrin

It is really not the cellphones. They operate at very low power in frequencies that used to be used by telephone companies for point to point relays at much higher power. These were used by the telephone companies for the past 40 years. If anything, the cellular towers have a lesser impact than the telephone company links.

It is probably a virus or bacteria carried by a mite that attacks the bees.

That and the fact that africanized "killer" bees don't forage as much for pollen and don't make as much honey. Many of the southern bee colonies have been invaded by "killer bee" strain and are converted.
