Why no traffic light at Kansas & the bypass?

I have almost had a wreck 5 times at this intersection. Who do I need to talk to about getting a light there?

The bypass is part of state highway 77 and controlled by the Kansas Department of Transportation.  KDOT would be to who you direct your complaints or suggestions.

KDOT is presently working on a plan for that intersection now.  A traffic light has been suggested, as has been a roundabout.  Hopefully we will see some kind of results soon.  Even if a decision is made, it would probably be a couple of years before anything could be installed or built.  For now, please be very careful.

I think there may be a safety course somewhere you could take  or possibly a eye exam may help, i know that wichita has a course for drivers who are subject to trama on the road
hope this helps,, you will never see a traffic light there, it would impeed traffic flow and Al Grunder is not going to allow that

Why would you write such a sarcastic remark to my question. I am an excellant driver who at 52 has never had a wreck. My skills and vision are probably the reason that I have had numerous close calls at this intersection but no collision's. Why on earth would you want to belittle me and make me feel and look stupid? I only hope you don't treat everyone that way, And I will pray for God to fill up your tank with some Patience, understanding and compassion for your fellow man. smile

I have 20/20 vision, but when the sun is just right... That intersection is dangerous, you can not see anything and cars are fighting to get through!

I think so too -- when that intersection is busy there are cars turning all different directions and it gets chaotic and dangerous.

When I read your first post, I was going to suggest the same thing. But the only reason I was going to mention it is beacuse I am a defensive driving instructor for the company that I work for (I can not teach it to people outside of my company). Before I had my training, I had some close moments at that same spot. I teach my classes accident and unsafe habit avoidance. NHTSA reports showed that just under 43,000 people died on our road ways last year. If you asked them to compare their driving skills with those they share the road with, most of them would have said above average to excellent. Plus, 42% of all accidents happen at intersections. Another added benefit of a good driving course is the reduced stress and anxiety of driving.

I would also suggest a safe driving course. One that combines class room and on the road practice. Check with your insurance provider and see if they recommend one. It even helps on your insurance premiums. I also recommend motorcycle rider courses. I have ridden for years. I am planning on taking a course later this spring to ensure that I am doing everything in my power to keep from having a wreck.

Tell me about how your accidents almost happened and what the weather, time of day and about the different vehicles involved. I might be able to give you some free advice.

Not to be getting off topic here, but what really drives me nuts is when people drive up really fast to a stop sign and look like they are gonna run it but don't. Or, they get so close to the rear end of the car when stopped at a traffic light or stop sign. Guess I have gotten super touchy since I have my baby granddaughter with me a lot. And yeah, before anyone feels the need to say it, I know my driving is not perfect either!
