Not really promised, I guess, but waaay back when I was a freshman, I was told there would probably be one.
A lady who was kinda in charge of what went in there or something like that and I suggested a GameStop or any other similar store and listed all sorts of good things that could do for the kids here. She really liked it and told me she really liked the idea of putting it in.
Two years later, and we still have empty stores... It sucks.

We could host local gaming tournaments and it could be a kinda cool place to hang out, especially if it had a place for demos to be played.
I think you have been misrepresented as to what gamestop does. They sell video games...thats pretty much it. I know that sometimes a game store will have the occasional tournament, but there are so many liability issues that tournaments rarely happen if at all. Ask the guys who tried so hard to set up a halo tournament at walmart on the games release.

Aghhh! Is it just me, or have we taken all of the fun out of life with our political red tap and lawsuits. Just wait until they outlaw breathing or having babies.
Well I think the main issue has to due with the ratings of M (mature, over 17) on almost every popular video game that is played competitively. Companies just can't allow that kind of an event without having age requirements for all those who would come in contact with the content of the game, meaning check ids at the door and not let in anybody under 17. Not exactly good for business haha

We really have. Legalities are crap. Plain and simple.
And if I for some reason decide to stay in AC (Ie: College doesn't work out), I think I'd open up my own game store and hold tourneys and all that good junk. Just like my good friends who left town, Michelle and Tony.
You win ten internets if you remember them.
Oh, and they earn money by selling games and making profit off of them. Just like Wal-Mart makes money for selling you food.
