Made a batch of Snow Ice Cream and have a pot of soup simmering away. So glad we seem to have missed the worst of the ice and that we still have electricity. And extreamly grateful that I don't have to be out in this storm.
I have not heard anything about the road cleanup after the snow. My personal observation was that they did a much better job this time than they have in the past. I know they can't get all of the roads, and that certain things have priority (intersections, primary roads, hospital, fire department....) but things seemed to happen much more quickly and effieciently.
I'd like to hear other opinions. Normally there are letters to the editor and calls to me (and I'm sure to other commissioners) but so far I haven't heard anything.
The wind swept most of the snow off my street so there wasn't a need to plow, but the sand truck was most welcome. Friday Morning, when I needed to get to my volunteer job at the hospital, I could tell there were some slick spots - mostly refrozen areas - but cautious driving allowed me to travel around AC without incident. A Thank You is due to the city Sanitation crews as there must have been unusually large amounts of trash to be picked up and a shortened work week and weather to complicate their schedules. having grown up in the days of the back yard burn pits I genuinely appreciate having my trash hauled off.
