Gang Activity/Identity Theft

Just watched a very intersting story on FOX News the other night. They were talking about the effects of illegal immigration on Hannity & Colmes. You can find video links from the Fox Web Site. I was educated a little bit myself. Evidently, the "rival" gang the Traveler mentioned doing their handy work on the Ceramic Shop downtown is the M13 gang. M is the 13th letter of the alphabet and their name stands for the "Mexican Mafia". Much nastier group than the 456 Piru from what I heard and all associates take their orders from their leaders behind the Mexican border.
They also had some intersting info on "Black Tar Heroin" that is being distributed in Texas elementry schools for $1 to $2 a hit. This is laced with 5% Heroin and Tylonol PM. They say that 25% of the kids who snort this stuff die from the first use. The rest are hooked on heroin for life. Scary stuff! Parents need to educate themselves on this new and deadly drug. Oh, by the way... the news report claims that this stuff is manufactured in Mexico and snuck across the border. They recently caught 2 illegals in Texas with 90,000 hits (street value of $180,000.00) of this stuff ready to distribute. That's 90,000 kids they could have made addicts for nothing more than their daily lunch money.
They also mentioned some very intersting facts and numbers ($$$) about medical costs for illegals being treated for free. One county in Southern California had a hospital with $250 million dollar unpaid bill for said individuals in one year. To be fair, they claimed $40 million in unpaid bills by legal citizens. The federal government mandates that they treat these people for free. The citizens of that county are being forced to pick up the bill or they wil lose their hospital. INTERESTING!

Yesterday, I was out on my back porch and noticed 4 teenagers circling around my vehicles parked in the alley. I went out to see what they were up to and that's when another neighbor came out of her house yelling at them. I now realize that they were just hiding from her. Apparently, they had broken a glass bottle in her drive way and she was demanding that they come back and pick it up. She claims this is not the first time they have harrassed her and her home. One of the girls involved yelled back at her and called her a "crazy bi#&*". Police were called and I thought we were going to have a brawl right in our block. Remember what I said about "street justice" and people taking the law into their own hands? My neighbors are fed up! I have had another teenage neighbor call me a BI#@# when I tried to confront them about throwing a lit bottle rocket into my dog's kennel. What is the deal with today's youth? Do they have no respect for adults at all?

Does anyone else think it's ridiculous that it took a full seven days for my post to show up from the time I wrote it? It's bad enough that we have to deal with a moderated forum, but SEVEN DAYS? I had just about given up, and vowed to stop coming here. Can't you people do something about the turn around on here?

Motherof2, did the police do anything about the youths you spoke of? Sometimes I think the police work harder at finding ways not to work than they do enforcing the laws. It's getting to where you have to demand that charges be pressed, and keep calling to bug them repeatedly before they actually do what they are supposed to do, which is enforce the laws.

I guess they figure that our government doesn't enforce any of it's laws, so why should they. I think the police hate dealing with illegals too, and simply go out of their way to ignore them, or not get involved, for fear of actually running into a real live illegal alien, and then not being able to do anything about it. We have already heard former officers on here who said that exact thing... that illegals were let go or ignored altogether because it's just too much of a hassle.

Motherof2- I'm sorry your going through all of that and thank you for posting about it and getting it out there that this IS happening. I think if anything Jodi's death taught us that we always need to be aware whats going on around us and that a small town doesn't guarantee safety.. Our town has changed. If I ever leave at night I always make sure that I have my finger on the car finder button on my key chain... I check the back of the car- You just never know. So, As I say that... Just be careful when you confront those anyone, Make sure the police are called and stay safe!

I was upset the other day going down main st and seeing houses from KS ave. going south with bashed up mailboxes.. Mail scattered everywhere. There have been a few nights recently that our dogs have gone crazy- I get up and look around outside and don't see anything. I've had teens in my yard more than a few times and I always knock on the window and shoo them away when they look up at me.

It's just starting to get scary when you start seeing gang spray paint on house and stores. I hope the police start nipping this in the bud now before it really gets out of hand.

I am one of the people that own the ceramic store on summit and I've came to the shop several times now and found graffitti on the back and side of the building.  Everytime I've called the police but no one seems to see the culprits doing the artwork.  I keep being told that I need to remove it but the sad thing is that I would if I could... paint can be a little expensive when you run a shop that doesnt really make much.

For a few years I lived outside of Filthadelphia(Philidelphia) and had to deal with all the gangs and the stuff that goes along with it.  When we came back to Ark City I thought we'd left all that behind us.   To my surprise I now have to deal with it all again.

The question I keep asking the police is how can NO ONE see these jerks doing it when we are on Summit?  How can the neighbors in the apartment complex not see it when they are out on their drinking binges and throwing beer bottles and drug needles in my parking lot?

I've thought more then once of closing and taking my business else where!  Now it is more evident that I should of done it a long time ago!  I've only had the shop a year and I've had to deal with a pervert stalking me,graffitti, and no customers!  So, I think its time to bid farewell to having a business in Ark City.  It's sad that the customers that I did have are from out of town and not locals.

I have scanned the entire post and unless I missed it, wheres "Patrick"
He seems to have an opinion on everything else, but not a peep here.
A few years back city employess went to Colorado and brought back
free paint.  [They were gong to donate it to paint all these "unsightly"
houses in the city]. May not have been the right color,  but seems the
city could cough up enough to paint over graffitti.

In this case I am trying to stay completely out of the picture.  I live immediately behind one of the buildings affected.  It would be improper for me to take action because I am involved to a degree.

I recommend contacting other commissioners either directly, or by going to www.arkansascityks.gov and selecting the CITY GOVERNMENT link.  Then you can select ACCESS ARKANSAS CITY in the left column.  This is a new service that tracks customer service making sure that all queries are responded to and verified.  It is a new system for which we can thank our City Manager who is doing his best to improve customer service and communications with all of the people of the city.

as a side note:  this is a brand new service and might not yet have all the bugs worked out.  that is my personal view on new software.  it may work perfectly, but I like to give new stuff a month or two ;)

motherof2,
What have you been able to find out about the activity in the area? Had a run in with a group of kids today that I would rather not go into publicly at the moment. But I am concerned about how serious the gangs are here.
