If this is the deadline article I was told that was the lame reason noone did our fundraiser, then I seriously believe we need not only a written but a verbal in person apology from the editor!
well id like to see receipts of money you raised where did you send it does any of that money stay in cowley county
how does this organization rate with other organizations that keep money here
can we see an audit and report of your fundraising activities ?
As for where the money goes, it goes to a fund to pay for reasearch at COG sponsored hospital all over the country. No it don't go to Cowley County because there isn't a childrens hospital related oncology facility in Cowley County. It goes to Via St. Christi in Wichita and Wesley Medical Center. They are COG (Children's Oncology Group) facilities. And yes the money we have raised goes to my daughter and Christopher Santiago and other children in Kansas getting treatment for childhood cancer!
Why don't you go to the websites Sabrina and I, Stephanie Rutter, have sent and put on several of the posts on here. You will see what we are trying to accomplish. You will notice we are listed on the sites as host sites and how much we have raised. You want to question our fundraising efforts, why don't you take some time and talk to the organizations yourself. Sabrina and I have no problems with proving our efforts. Can you? What article are you saying you put in the paper? May I get a copy of it?
Why dont you talk to KSN, Shear Success, The AC Fire Dept. and The Cowley County Sherriff's dept. if you don't believe us? We have a copy of the news segment done by KSN if you would like a copy please let one of us know.
Just to let you know, there are 3 of us, completely different people posting on here, Stephanie Rutter, Sabrina Proctor and Deborah Hix.
When you recieve the information you have asked for, are you going to put the information you are given and or gathered and put it in the paper that our efforts were/are actually something worth writing about?
I was the one who spoke with you on the phone a few weeks ago. Not once did you ask me for my name.
Here are the website you should research: www.stbaldricks.org, www.alexslemonadestand.org. Feel free to call the phone numbers and speak with them you might realize this is something we are working hard to do. I really would like for you to check them out and let me know just how much you think our efforts and your help would be to not just my daughter but all kids who have cancer.
Sincerely, Stephanie Rutter Mother of child with cancer
I will have copies of everything I've done sent to you soon so maybe then I can get an apology for your comments. At least we are trying to make a um yeah a um diffrence in the lives of childhood cancer victims. At least we have made and effort!

I only asked for information. If you will send me information about money raised and sent, I will put it in the paper. There is nothing wrong with asking about that.
And you have not answered my other question.
Why do you think the relay for life got so much coverage?
We did run a story, and I sent a reporter to cover your event, and my reporter found no one there. I never received all the faxes you say you sent.
If I seem mean I am sorry. However, I will not do things for people who abuse people at the paper, who are just plain mean, or who make outlandish accusations on the web. Can you blame me for that?
To answer your question as to why I THINK Relay for life gets more attention. It is due to it being a larger , well known foundation that every knows and recognizes. I understand that the St. Baldricks Foundation and Alex's Lemonade Stand are not well known although I had hoped to make it an annual event for us. But at this point we are very discouraged by all that has happend.
My goals is to make childhood cancer as important cause as breast and prostate cancer is. I can not do this alone as it seems to me I am. My sister and I have worked hard on trying to start a childhood support group in Cowley County but have had a hard time since so many don't seem to care. Children are our future and we need to do something to help them.
Some may think that we are childish as you put it, but some may feel the same way as us. Our frustration to your actions or lack there of is from several ocassions. My question to you is .....at what time did your reporter come to our St. Baldrick's event? I was here from 8am until 5:30pm on March 17th. If you are referring to the man that came on June 8th he wasnt here for the event he came to give a quote on an ad to run in the paper. He said he'd be back but never came back.
In the future I dont plan on contacting you for any of our events I will use other media instead. Maybe then we can get our story out. As I've stated before that KSN had no problems being at our event and ran the story @ 6pm and 10pm spots.
Oh I forgot that the story you ran was about my "Roaming Gnome" and yes it had a little bit about St. Baldricks Day. I was glad to see that my name got right that time! A few years ago when you ran a story about my neice you had my mother married to my brother in law and my sisters name was SUE instead of Stephanie...We still get a laugh out of it to this day!
They got coverage due to the fact that they are a large state wide/ national organization/foundation. And more people that are assigned to do nothing but get publicity for their events.
As for me, I am just starting my organization and it's just me and my sister doing it alone. ACS has more networks to get publicity.
I am working on gettting a Support group in order and becoming part of the Candlelighters Foundation for children with cancer. At that time I will have more people helping.
If you will take notice, ACS does not offer support groups nor much information on childhood cancer, they are mainly geared towards adult cancers.
That is why I have asked for your assistance in finding more families to assist and get the word out that childhood caner is on the rise and we (families of children with cancer) need all the help we can get! Weather it be volunteer work, helping with the fundraisers or getting these famililes in contact with who they need to be getting help from.
If you are willing to run an article I have written in hope of getting other families in the right places it would be a great help!
If you would like the information on my efforts. Please feel free to contact me at: shutterbug197526@yahoo.com.

If you will send it to me, i can put it in the letters column. posting it on here doesnt count :) Email it to me. I have not seen it yet. Also, it is always a good idea to call and make sure it was received. It is not a good idea to become abusive toward the person on the other end of the phone if you do not get the answer you want.
We get 300-400 emails a day, so it is pretty easy for something to get lost. If you want a small article, just send what you wrote and we can take it from there. Put your contact information on what you send in, such as a phone number. I am going out of town for two weeks, but I am sure people who are there will take care of you.
On the Relay for Life, actually they use total volunteer labor. They do not have a local PR staff. The person in charge of PR this year works full time in Winfield at another job.
The reason they get coverage is that they provide information in a timely manner. The ask us how we like to receive it , whether email, snail mail, fax etc., and they give it to us in a way that works best for us. Then they call to make sure we received it, and they ask if we need anything else. They are actually pleasant and professional in demeanor. The put phone numbers and addresses on everything they send, so that we can contact them for more information. They do not become abusive toward people at the paper. They do not post nasty things on here and so forth.
I hope you will read this and take it to heart. What you are trying to do is good. I do not mean this as an attack. You really need to work on your delivery. You have a good cause, and you are sincere, but you make people mad and are hurting yourself. Attacking people, leaving nasty messages on the phone, and posting vicious attacks on the 'net does not make people inclined to want to help you out.
Think about this. If I have 10 things that I could get into the paper, but only have time or space for five, I have to make a choice. That choice is up to me, and whether that is good or bad is up for debate, but that is the reality.
Put yourself in my shoes. Even if I try my hardest to be fair and objective, do you think I am going to pick the person who was nasty to me or the person who was nice to me?
There is one teacher in the local schools who sends me stuff regularly. EVERYTHING she sends me gets in. There is a reason for that. :)
what has this newspaper come to? This is completely rediculous! Especially on the front page! Come on! There is real issues going on lets get on them!

Is a squirrel more inmpotant than children with cancer?
