Just a short note to say "good job" to County Commissioner Gary Wilson on his persistance to allow the citizens of Cowley County the right to have and shoot fireworks. The ban has been on too long. I know as a child Christmas and Fourth of July were two of the most looked forward too holiday's. Then along came the ban. For twenty years children have not been taught how to shoot fireworks safely by this ban. There may be lots of injuries because of lack of training. Parents need to teach their children how to put on their seatbelts, look both ways before crossing the street, and many other things. If children get hurt with fireworks, it will be because of lack of supervision. Parents need to give their children guidence. And if the parents believe in allowing fire works then go for it. If you don't believe in it then don't allow your children to do it. We all should have the right to choose. Spend time with your kids!!!!
And now our local groups can sell fireworks and recieve a fund raising boost. For years, the Kay County, Oklahoma firework stands have made a ton of money off Cowley County Families. Now this money can stay home where it can be used.
