Today is June 12, 2006. As I drove north on Summit St. I again saw that the KACY radio station van still has a tag dated May 31, 2005. Two months ago, I called the ACPD and inquired as to how they are still driving on this tag. I was informed that maybe they had gotten the new registration and sticker and misplaced it but that an officer would be sent out to inquire. So, I waited, and waited and waited. Last week, June 7, I went and took a picture of this outdated tag as it STILL hadn't been updated, and I called the ACPD once again. This time I was told that maybe they had been lucky and hadn't had an officer behind them, etc and just hadn't been caught yet. My name was taken and I was AGAIN told that an officer would be sent out to investigate. So, here I am today thinking, "Now if that were me, I would surely have seen those wonderful red and blue lights in my rearview mirror a LONG LONG time ago. " I question what the police department is doing since nobody has obviously told this business to update their tag. What does it take to get things like this noticed?????
from my experiences these past few days with the ACPD they pick and choose what they want to investigate and when you ask them direct questions you get different answers to all of 'em even if you are asking the same question. They love giving out tickets you'd think they'd run right down the street and give them one.
I saw Friday that they finally have updated tags! I will always wonder if by posting this it got someones attention, or they just finally got around to it. Hard telling.
We were pulled over by the ACPD and were able to demonstrate to the officer that we did indeed have a valid tag, and we were not ticketed. The problem we have had is that having a radio station in Arkansas City makes us a target for all sorts of vandalism, and the removal of our tag sticker, I guess, was a very funny joke. We have had our front door smashed, our tires cut , air let out of our tires, vehicles keyed, and this is just one more occasion of this. I understand KSOK has also had the same sort of problems. It is one of the joys of doing business here and honestly, my life is way too short for that.
Ya know... we provide free music, news, sports, support the community, fund a number of local events, concerts, etc. Why is this burr in your saddle? It sounds like you trying to play gotcha. Are you the one that removed the sticker?
