Kudos to the city commission for keeping the recycling effort going through the budget cuts.
Last Saturday (1/3/09) I took our recycling into town to the senior center to drop it off. I usually get there @ 9AM when it starts. This time I was busy & got there about 11AM. There was a line to the end of the parking lot, around the corner & almost to the next corner of vehicles waiting to drop off their items. Because I'm usually early I don't usually see that turnout. The city staff were working hard, my thanks to them. Kudos also to all those who participate in recycling. Good job to all and thanks, even those who's time was apparantly more valuable than those of us waiting in line.
Recycling is big business. So glad to see people supporting that cause, while trash and refuse lies around each block and up each alley because the city will not invest in trash bins with covers on them for each household. Trash cans falling all over and plastic lids in the middle of the road. We need to update our refuse system, including local pick up of recyclables, so you don't have to wait in line for a half an hour, sure you got better things to do. signed, disgruntled at refuse system.
