I would like to bring attention to those of you that don't have family in the military currently serving in the war, that would like to send packages to anyone in the military. There are those in the military that will not recieve cards/letters/packages from anyone at home that would love to hear from those of us at home that care about them. There is a website I have found that I am currently using that has contact people that has volenteered for their unit to recieve these cards/letters/packages and foward them on to those who get none or very little. You can pick what branch of the service you would like to send them too and pick what contacts you would like.

It was started by a soldier himself that had more than one tour of duty in Iraq and Afganistan and saw the need to get notice for some of his military associates. As he says on the site, you can't always count on hearing from these soldiers as you never know when or how they will be able to get back to you but he says no matter what they do appreciate anything you do for them when they are so far from home. If you would like to just look over the site and think about possibly serving those who serve our country take a look at www.anysoldier.com . Take time to read about those who make it home, those who come home injured and those who pay the ultimate price.

Elee, thanks for you efforts in bringing these organizations forward for consideration. After your post with asoldierswish I checked it out and we applied. They are currently overwhelmed with national response and are backlogged with donors awaiting a contact. This is definitely a worthwhile effort. Just as their bumper stickers logo says "Stand behind our Troops...or Stand in front of them".

I am currently working on sending three sets of boxes to Iraq this week. I was lucky enough to get a movie store here in town to donate some movies and a citizen or two and with the ones I have it makes quite a few movies. With these I am going to be able to send a box of DVD's to a medical logistics team, a squad of MP's(these are National guardsmen from KS), and a squad of Blackhawk maintenace soldiers a few movies and lots of microwave popcorn. I have made contact with the blackhawk chopper guys and they are so excited to recieve them, they tell me they are patiently waiting. If anyone else would like to send care packages to the soldiers, just go to the websites I have mentioned and go for it. They are truly truly grateful for every thing we send.

With the anysoldier.com there is no waiting period and they will send you a contact name generally by the next day.

ABC123 thank you for applying and looking to brighten a soldiers day. Till they all come home......

I would be happy to donate a box or two of books if someone would like to take the responsibility of sending them on.

I was sending them to my son to share while he was in Iraq, but I don't have any contact there since he came home.

Just let me know and I'll have them ready.

I'll make more books available if there are more people willing to find different contacts.
