Cards to Recovering Service Members

Recently I have recieved many copies of an email about sending cards to "Recovering American Soldier" at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.  Sounds like a great idea BUT
According to Walter Reed's web site
http://wramc.army.mil/Lists/WRNews
Mail addressed this way will not be delivered.

Cards, letters, packages & etc. ** must** be addressed to a specific patient - by name.

Sunnyflower, thank you for setting us straight on this email. I haven't personally recieved any emails in regard to this topic but I have been sending packages to active duty military members since the war began. I recently found a website that you can go to if you decided you would like to send packages to a soldier who would like to have letters/packages/emails from home.

www.asoldierswishlist.org

I applied to adopt a soldier and in less than a day I recieved a name in regard to one who had put his name in for a pen pal. I have already sent letters, emails and sent packages to him. From him I have gotten some wonderful photos of the ruins, and many places in Iraq that were very interesting. He is a good man that has been away from his family and will be for a long time. My grandsons and I are just showing him a little bit about Kansas hospitality. If anyone is interested you can go to the website and apply for a candidate. They also apply for someone to write too. Just a bit of info in case there are others that would like to do this as well.
