I am glad our local police are training for situations like this one. Our police do a fine job for this town, and whatever I can do to support them I will. I think what they are doing is an awesome idea. God forbid if someone did go into one of the schools and begin shooting our area police force need to be prepared and the training will help them. I suppose you'd also complain that they did not prepare in this manner if a shooter did enter a school. Good for USD 470 and ACPD for thinking ahead.

I am releived after reading the recent headlines and viewing the photographs that simulated firearms were used, not many would notice or care about blue guns, it means to me that Barny didn't draw workers comp. and hopefully no flash-bangs require a remodel job out of the city funds.

I hope citizens are on hand to witness and document fine overtime training tax dollars at work. WOW...lots of anger here. And of course there has to be a reason for it. Care to share your story? There has to be others that feel the same way. It might be a good way to vent.
wow I certainly think that the training is worth the time,but I don't think we the public is getting our monies worth. For example any one who has been to or heard of any respected motivational speaker would know that the most important item for success is communication and it was stated in the news by the ACPD COP that there were problems at all resources. And that did not just show up and begin that day. That is something that that happens everyday in our fair town. I would think even you would think that if we had a department that could communicaite better with the people of this town better it would increase the support of local people better and then it would get better between department people and then other agencies. Until then it is almost like they never had the exercise at all.

What needs to be asked in this whole thing is why does Ark City rely on a SWAT team from Sumner County, with a 30 minute ETA (at least), instead of forming one of our own? If it's simply a matter of liability, then they will have to live with that if someone dies while waiting for real help to arrive.
