There is a war going on, immigrants are running through our borders like water, and yes, children and adults are dying every day with cancer and other wide spread diseases. And we get the squirrel, granted maybe they are thinking may be to lighten up the daily news since most reported now days is dark and gloomy. But if there are fund raisers going on, I believe they should get some attention. Have you tried the radio stations? Could be the paper wants you to advertise for money? I hope not. I would think they could donate a small space in the paper for the children. Maybe it hasn't hit close to home for any of them. That is always an eye opener. I am sorry you have to struggle so with getting attention for this fundraiser. Have you tried doing in in Winfield?

many organizations get lots of publicity through the paper. maybe you could find out how they do it :) hint ... nasty phone calls and insults on a blog don't usually work, nor do non-existant faxes.
As if I wasn't frustrated enough with the choices the traveler puts on the front page, they go and find another STUPID SQUIRREL to write about! Why cant they write stories about normal things and things that might encourage community involvement? I mean come on there are much more important things to put on the front page besides another squirrel!! They want stories of progress.... Well how can we do that when there is no progress in Ark City! Most of downtown looks like a constant garage sale. There are several shops that I never see open and have crap piled in the windows! Has anyone ever seen that "Worn in the USA" open? Or how about the antique store next to it? I havent seen it open in months! The only progress in this town is how fast they tear down bulidlings and houses. And lets talk about the progress of the rivalry between AC and Winfield. Lets see Winfield gets a new Sonic and Ark City's is still a dump. Winfield gets better businesses to invest and Ark City cant even get a decent company in here!
I say head south thats where the money is! Look at all the casinos and new stuff being built south of the line. Ark City should be capitalizing on all that, but will they? Very doubtful! They have their hopes on a new hospital that will never be built because theres no one to invest in it! Its about time that this town gets their acts togather and fight not to become a ghost town!
Okay, well intentioned people shaved their heads and got their publicity, unless yet another underground firehouse publicity stunt is underway I want to know how it ties into Coffeyville, carb. fires, and the multi county SWAT team.
